Cosmetic Surgery.
  These want to behave like 3 point patches. If you want to make character with rock jaw and other features learn from my mistake and avoid having 'curved rhombus' 4 point patches for( want of a better term) in the jaws.

This problem was alliviated by making them as rectangular as possible .This was done by.

  1. Breaking splines or deleting cvs at x
  2. Connecting the open ends as shown
    by the red arrows.
  3. Pulling the jaw and temple splines down.

 

  After doing this I got the image below.
 
 
  Which was much better but still had the "curved rhombus" problem as seen in the wireframe side view. What was needed was a method to produce rectangular jaw patches from start and not to force them out of other shapes and show Mr green eyed monster a thing or two.I also decided not to skimp on the patches. I could focus on low patch count when I mastered facial modeling.
