Building a face - Method 1(Extuding from the mouth)
  My journey in CG began with the indomitable POV Ray. This lead me to the sweet Spatch and finally the all powerful AM.
Anto Matkovic's method of extruding from the mouth to form the head was my preferred method of modeling a head. An example of which is shown below.
 
 
 

This method produced a lot of continuous splines that are unbroken except at the eyes and can be made into very smooth 5 point patches. I deviated from his method in that I did not extrude all the way into the neck. Instead I extruded to to the ear, copied and pasted the last spline extruded. I then flattened this spline in the z-axis, added a few points then lathed it. The front of the lathed structure was deleted; the rear part was then joined to the face and the point adjusted - a trick I picked up from Mike Comet. The end result.
